Moon Energy: Discover the Right Time to Start New Projects
Finding the right time to start your next project can be as easy as moon gazing. The new moon marks a time for new beginnings, creativity and increased adrenaline – giving you the necessary boost to power through big projects and bring new ideas to life.
The moon holds her power over everything on earth. She controls the tides in the sea, the rhythm of our seasons, and even our pet’s mood.
Moon energy can give you a boost, and by following the moon phases (the stages from New Moon to Full, and back again), you can pinpoint the ideal time to start a new project. This can be anything from founding a new business, writing a book, naming new products, or even something as simple as redecorating a room. Starting a new project at the right phase of the moon will increase your chances of success (not mention, you’ll have increased energy). The best part is, it’s really simple to follow!

The Waxing moon is the time for new projects. Waxing is the cycle of growing bigger (the Waning moon is growing smaller). This picture illustrates the waxing & waning of the moon.
Waxing is perfect for new projects because the moon is “growing & abundant” (just like you want your project to be).
While there are a total of eight phases of the moon, only four of them are used here for project planning. I’ll describe each phase, when you should start your project, and how to flow your project along with the moon energy.
Four phases of the moon that are best for new projects, and when to get started:
1. The New Moon. The moon is barely visible in the sky, and it’s just beginning a new cycle of waxing (growing bigger). The new moon is when new projects should be conceived.
Tip: remember new moon = new ideas.
During the new moon, define goals, create a working timeline, outline ideas and set new intentions. This is the time for creative thought and brainstorming.
2. The Crescent Moon. The crescent moon is visible three to four days later. This is the time to start taking action. You need to get your “tools” out and start building!
Tip: remember crescent moon = crescent wrench (tool).
During the crescent moon, put things in motion. The moon is starting to get a bit bigger, and now is the time for your project to take life and start growing. Get working!
3. The Half Moon (1st Quarter). Three to four days later the moon will be halfway visible. Now is the time to get fired up and accelerate your progress. The moon is growing every day and you need to use that momentum to your advantage.
Tip: remember half moon = halfway finished.
During the half moon you need to kick it in gear and use maximum energy. You have seven days left! Use this final week to push to the finish line. Bonus – you’ll be fueled by the increased moon energy.
4. The Full Moon. 7 days later – your project is complete! The full moon is the celebration time. Energy is flowing, your project has reached fullness, and now it’s time to rest and be grateful for another successful New Moon cycle.
Tip: remember full moon = fully finished project.
During the full moon you should celebrate your wins, rest up, and thank the moon for lending you her energy and creativity during this time.
This complete waxing cycle lasts 14-15 days and occurs every 29 days. Every month, you have the opportunity to utilize the new moon energy and push through things you’ve been putting off, as well as start grand new projects that need an extra oomph. Begin an undertaking when the moon is just starting her growth cycle, and you’ll optimize the natural flow of your own energy. Following this cycle can help you accomplish more, with less stress and struggle.
Moon Energy in Business
In my business, I always use the New Moon to begin product launches, sales & marketing campaigns, production of new workbooks & content, etc. It’s been one of my “secret weapons” to optimizing my energy and abundance.
Try using the phases of the moon as you schedule new projects. Start your brainstorming session on the day of a new moon, and follow the flow of the waxing moon as you work on your project. This is perfect alignment to moon energy.
